'Betty La Fea, The Story Continues' Sequel Series: Cast, Trailer, Release Date

Betty la fea is back and embarking on a new chapter of her life.

Twenty-five years after the Colombian telenovela “Yo Soy Betty, La Fea” premiered, the original Betty, actor Ana María Orozco, and cast return for the sequel series “Betty La Fea, The Story Continues.”

Prime Video released the first trailer, which gives a look at how Betty and husband Armando Mendoza's life went from happily ever after to on the brink of divorce. The trailer also shows Betty with her teenage daughter along with her mission to rebuild the family fashion business, Ecomoda.

A number of spin-off and renditions were created following the release of “Yo Soy Bettty, La Fea” in 1999,. In 2001, Univision aired the first sequel “Eco Moda,” which saw newlyweds Betty and Armando raise their daughter.

There was also another 2006 version called “La Fea Más Bella,” starring Angélica Vale as Lety and Jaime Camil as Fernando, that followed a similar storyline about an unattractive woman who falls for her boss.

Many other countries created their own version, which also included the America Ferrera Emmy-winning series “Ugly Betty,” as well as Telemundo’s 2019 version “Betty en NY.”

What is 'Betty La Fea, The Story Continues' about?

In “Betty La Fea, The Story Continues,” the Spanish-language series follows Beatriz Pinzón Solano 20 years after the conclusion of the original series.

She is still married to Armando, whose family owns Ecomoda, but they are separated. When a death in the company occurs, Betty is forced to reconnect with her former coworkers and estranged husband.

Viewers will see Betty also rebuild her relationship with her daughter, Mila, who has been studying fashion in New York and ready to join the family business. Betty must decide what career path she wants to take and if she wants to reconcile with Armando, all while questioning her life decisions from the last two decades.

Ana María Orozco reprises her role as Betty, while Jorge Enrique Abello also returns as Armando. There's a number of familiar faces from the original series, including Lorna Cepeda as Patricia and Natalia Ramírez as Marcela, as well as new characters introduced this time around.
